What is EXIF Data?
EXIF (Exchangeable Image File Format) data is metadata stored inside photo files, especially JPGs taken with digital cameras and smartphones. It includes the camera make and model, lens information, exposure settings (shutter speed, aperture, ISO), date and time the photo was taken, and often GPS coordinates showing exactly where the photo was taken.
Privacy Warning
Photos taken on smartphones almost always contain GPS location data. When you share photos publicly — on social media, dating apps or websites — this GPS data can reveal your home address, workplace or other sensitive locations. Use our EXIF Remover to strip this data before sharing.
Which File Formats Contain EXIF?
JPG/JPEG files contain the most EXIF data. PNG files can contain some metadata but not full EXIF. WEBP has limited metadata support. RAW files (CR2, NEF, ARW) contain extensive metadata but may not be supported in all browsers.
